One Crayon Blog Hop

I'm excited to take part in Sally Russick's One Crayon Color Challenge.  When I picked my color, I was thinking of sunshine, daffodils, sunflowers and other bright shiny hues.  But when it came to my bead box I was drawn more to the soft and subtle shades of sandy beaches and golden sunsets. 

I love the bangle tutorial from Fanciful Devices (Thanks Erin!) and a few of the techniques used in making my bangles were from the Ebook.  Of course, I added in my own flair.  I love the beaded bangle - it's created using a strand of seed beads wrapped around a wire bangle.  So easy and fun and inspired by vintage jewelry designs that have been on my mind lately.  The yellow fiber is gold sari fringe.  I paired that up with brass wire and tiny 3mm fire polish beads.  The last bangle features one of my urchins in gold with a wire-wrapped bangle.

In just a few weeks it will be summer and summer in Michigan is where my heart sings!  I can't wait.

    Great bracelets Heather. I love the inspiration pictures. Not what I initially think of when I think "beach" but they're amazing and the bracelets so reflect your theme!

    Heather, your bangles certainly reflect the colors of your photos, especially the 2 middle ones! I never specifically noticed that color scheme in nature. You've given an age-old color combination a beautiful contemporary look! Nice work!

    Your little stack of bangles is awesome. I like that beaded one too. At first, I thought you had used some kind of special tubular stitch to create it, but knowing how simple it really is, makes it just that much more neat. The urchin is a great touch!

    This hop looked like so much fun! I am sad that I missed out on this one! I love that you chose yellow. That would be a hard color for me to work with, but not in these soft romantic tones. And I love the bangles you made! That tutorial is one of the best investments yet! Enjoy the day.

    I bought the tutorial from Fanciful Devices after the bracelet blog hop and never tried anything from it. After seeing your bracelets, I *will* be getting it out again. Those are all just lovely. I can't even pick a favorite, although the urchin focal is just to die for.

    Very fun! Isn't it funny how we can have one idea in our head, but then when we sit down to work, something entirely different pops out?

    I love the warm, honey-colored yellows you chose to work with (they fit well with your earlier post Bright & Sunny). Its also a reminder that a little yellow can go a long way - combined with the white and black the yellow shines soft and warm.
