hello? hello?

Hedgie get off the line, I'm waiting for a phone call. Ha! (Yes children, when I was a kid we didn't have call waiting and phones didn't travel in our pockets. No I didn't live in a castle and wasn't called my lady.)

Last month Rings & Things sent their blog partners "Things to String" to play with and see what we think. I'm not a cell phone person. I have a little one that I load up with minutes when I travel, but it's not something I carry around with me on a daily basis. So the cell phone lariats that they sent to us were a bit of a mystery to me. How do they attach? What do people put on their cell phones? Those burning questions were eventually answered thanks to google.

So I guess if you are too hot to wear jewelry this summer, you can still sport your art bead collection on your phone. For some reason these remind me of projects for a slumber party or camp. Kumbaya my Lord, Kumbaya...Okay no more silliness from me.

Have you adorned your cell phone with some bling or beads of some kind? Or have you used these cell phone lariats in some other kind of project? Leave a comment and on Monday I will draw a random winner for my hedgie cell phone charm.

I haven't adorned my cell phone yet, but your post is sending me off to google to find out how they attach and look into the lariats. I put beaded fobs on my purses because I love that look. I love your Headgie Fob and would love for you to send it to me. soooo
PICK ME. I am packing this comment with PICK ME energy!!

No I haven't but your little hedgie would dress my phone up just right. and my phone is red, so this baby would totally match.

Knock Knock, "who's there," Hedgie, "hedgie who," Heygee, pick me, pick me.
This would TOTALLY match my cell phone to, but I would hang it on my purse.

I've had a charm on my phone since I got it. Helps me find it in my purse..lol! I made them one year to raise money at our Relay for Life event...they went like hotcakes. But I'd wear your hedgie any day.

Heather, not "hedging" for the drawing, but just had to mention that when I saw the title of the post I was hoping you were starting up your "add the punchline to this picture" posts again - those were SO MUCH FUN!

Do kids even know what a party line used to mean ... ? LOL

No, my cell phone is not bedazzled in any way. I am like you - I am not a cell phone person - it's just a sense of security to have it with me. This hedgie would make a great zipper pull or purse charm though too!

I resisted cell phones for years but as I don't actually WEAR much of any of the jewelry I make... my cell phone has a charm.

So does my keychain and the broken zip on my purse.

I not attached to my cell phone. I would put a charm on my purse. I like this idea.

carol - if you look at your cell phone there are two little holes near the bottom and you string the lariat though. I had no idea either!

The Rings & Things description says zipper pull or purse charm so you guys have the right idea.

Lynn, I do have a funny caption contest in the works for next Monday. you must be reading my mind.

Keep those comments coming!

Ariel (your fan) says if it came to live here she would put it on her Nintendo DS!

Translation: Mom, you might get to touch it for five minutes and then it's mine.

very cute! I made a rose out of polymer and some swarvoski to highlite and a curlyQ at the end for my moms phone. If they made a john deer riding lawnmower I would make one for my dad lol

I love my purse charms and pulls.

I don't adorn my cell phone. I am not on it all that much, and I wonder if it would just get in the way...still...your little hedgie and your initial bead (you know those are two of my faves) would find a home...maybe not on my phone but somewhere! I was wondering if you couldn't do something entirely different with those lariats, like string them all together?
Enjoy the day, friend!

I used to have one on my phone, but my iPhone doesn't have the little holes. ;( But I could put it on my purse...

I haven't, but I've been thinking about it. Mostly because I dreamed the other night that I couldn't figure out which phone was mine and in my dream I was wishing I had a pretty dangly on it to prevent confusion!

I haven't either. In Japan, everyone does, even men!!! You should see the business men with their Hello Kitty charms hanging off their cells phones - it's so funny!!! Thanks for the contest!

I don't have one on my cell phone -- it's one of those ooooolllllldddd models back before time began when things were simplier (grin). I do, however, have one on the card I have to wave in front of the scanner to get in and out of the parking garage where I work. I did that after I dropped it and had to get out of the car to find it with people in line behind me beeping. Now I just grab my little butterfly charm with the card attached, wave it in front of the scanner and I'm good to go!

I don't have anything hanging off of my cell phone, but I love your little hedgies and would love to make a home for him :o) I like the idea about putting it on the Nintendo DS...I could do that - the red would look really nice against the blue of my new DSi - and I use it a lot when I travel, so all sorts of people would wonder where I found SUCH a cute little hedgie :o)

I DO have a charm on my cell phone...in fact, I find them so intriguing and fun to make, that I have a whole Etsy shop devoted to them: cellchic.etsy.com I really opened the shop in self-defense...after I'd made charms and given one to everyone I knew, I still wanted to make more, and figured the only way to justify that was to try and sell 'em :o)

They're pretty, but like Rosanne said, they're really practical, too. When you tuck your phone in your pocket or a purse and leave the charm dangling out, it's a lot easier to retrieve your phone when you need it.

Heather Powers said...

i didn't know you could dangle things from a DS. Again, I'm even less with it when it comes to video games and such!

Erin - did you see Melanie's blog post, she used those lariats as a cord with a pendant to make zipper pulls. http://earthenwood-beads.blogspot.com/2009/06/rings-and-things-product-playtime.html

Hedgie is feeling the love, thanks everyone!

Yes, I have one on my cell phone with a simple polymer clay cane slice so that it doesn't get in the way. I also have one on my key chain. I have also attached them to my children's back packs and lunch box handles and water bottles just for fun and to help with identification.

I love how Earthenwood has used them (thanks for the link). I use a lobster clasp attached to the split ring when I make zipper pulls. That way you can change them out easily and remove before laundering.

I don't have a cellphone or carry a purse, so those options are out. :/ All beads, baubles and danglies go on my keys. :D
