Precious Things
So after I did a quick write-up on the ABS about the fab new Industrial Chic findings at Michael's, Erin told me they were having a challenge. I ran right out and bought some so that I could play along - like I needed an excuse! I wish I had picked up more, I'll have to make it back to there soon. My design was featured yesterday on the Objects and Elements blog.
Here is what I wrote for the post:
Inspired by the themes of delicate and precious thing stored away in a keepsake box, I incorporated one of my handpainted polymer egg beads into the focal. I used the small nautilus shell spacers from the Industrial Chic line and a nest from Green Girl Studios for the dangles, attaching them to Industrial Chic twisted links. For color, I added sea-glass colored resin beads and a faceted smoky quartz bead. I completed the necklace with a generous length of Industrial Chic copper chain.
And to personalize the piece I replaced the tiny dice inside the treasure box with seashells from one of my trips to Mexico.

Okay, I LOVE those nautilus spacers! The store didn't have any of those when I went to check out the Industrial Chic line so I didn't know about them until I just saw your design. It looks great! And now I have to go hunt up some of those nautilus pieces for myself!
This is such a wonderful pc you have created Heather!!!
I love this design, Heather. Great work!
Yes!! This is stunning work. I really like this style - you did a great job! I wish for them to sell industrial chic online...
Beautiful.
That is absolutely stunning! I love the various textures, the sea glass resin beads esp. are a nice touch of translucency, a nice counterpoint to the heavier-feeling metals. That focal is the sweetest little thing! What a great way to personalize a piece, you could put whatever you wanted in there. A little photo, a lock of hair, any kind of memory you wish.
Incredible - I love it!
Love it Heather, you continually amaze me with your sleek and meaningful designs.
Heather, this is such a gorgeous necklace...love all of the elements and the colors. Would you believe I have yet to see the new line in person yet...I just ran in to Michael's today too for 4th of July stuff, totally forgot to go the jewelry aisle!
Love this...the balance between heavy and light is amazing! It's like an amulet necklace!
Bead Happy!
