Nesting

After my mellow yellow post a few weeks ago I decided to try my hand at making nests. Ha! They are not as easy as they look. I have two books with directions, Semi-Precious Salvage and A Charming Exchange. These follow along the directions more of the Charming Exchange project but with a little of my own touch, because I seem to be incapable of following directions. (Good thing I can write them though!)

It took a good 4 or 5 tries before I liked one. I made the following one with steel wire and yellow turquoise. Yep, that's another Sue Bead frit spacer there, Sue Beads and Humblebeads like to hang out!
Bird nest tutorial here.

The nests are sweet! Don't forget to go to Trade Winds and buy some beads while you are on vacation.

I have been making all sorts of nests lately (great minds think alike?)...wait until you see your bracelet my dear!
I have been using Deryn Mentock's tutorial from Etsy...really easy to follow. And you are right...they are harder to make than they look! I have been mixing them up a bit to make them my own though....adding some things to them and making the wire do other things....I love it with the birdy charm! Enjoy the day! Erin

The nests are precious and it looks great in the necklace.

I made some and I used 24 gauge wire at first to get the hang of it. That really helped before I made the real thing with larger gauge wire.

Your bead nests are very cute :) And the necklace too. It's always harder the first times with a new technique. But everyone needs at challenge now and then. Nicely executed ;) / http://byzarah.com
