Vignettes

One definition of a vignette is:
any small endearing scene, view, picture, etc.

As someone who loves books and illustrations I've always taken a fancy to little illustrated vignettes.  These latest pendants remind me of them.  Lately I've been daydreaming, wishing I could live in the country.  So here are my dreams sneaking in among the clay and paint in my beads:

 Hope

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune--without the words,
And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.

I've heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.

-Emily Dickinson

April

The roofs are shining from the rain,
The sparrows twitter as they fly,
And with a windy April grace
The little clouds go by.

Yet the backyards are bare and brown
With only one unchanging tree--
I could not be so sure of Spring
Save that it sings in me.

-Sara Teasdale

Oh.My.Goodness.
These are delightful!
I must hold out for my special project, but I do so love the painterly quality of these.
I just used your pink dogwood blossom in a special commission for the Women's Fund of Portage County (I have top billing in the raffle with a goldsmith and silversmith!). I made all my own links and your bead was the first one that I knew would be part of it. I will be sharing soon for my next ABS blogger post!
Enjoy the day, dear one!

these are beautiful heather, it's like you are painting in pc! april reminds me of very weathered marble relief carving... and 'hope' is one of my all time favorite poems... you really must have been thrilled with these once they were born and raised..i like this direction -

Heather, these little vignettes are just beautiful! I love the idea of expressing your dreams through the beads you create.

It would be difficult to put these beauties up for sale--or are you planning to use them for yourself?

Oh my Heather....these two pieces are so lovely. And to put the icing on the cake; my name is Hope and my daughters name is April! How about that!
