Bead Star Revisited

My brain is still on vacation today, my head is rockin' along to imaginary waves. So I thought I'd share a little tidbit with you today while I regroup. Did you know that you can own my urchin necklace from the Bead Star contest? It's up on eBay right now in a charity auction for the American Heart Association. Bidding ends March 16th, so stop on by to see my necklace and the whole collection of items in the online auction. Bid now!

I'm a Bead Star Winner

Big news! Two of my designs won in the Bead Star competition from Interweave Press! Thank you for voting this summer. It was so hard to keep it a secret all these months. If I hadn't been so busy this week making beads I would have done my horn tootin' a little earlier!

My "Key to Heart Necklace" won 2nd place in the Hearts Category. Which came with a nice big ol' $500 gift certificate to Shipwreck Beads. It's like Christmas arrived two weeks early!

And my "Sea Urchin" necklace took home an honorable mention in the pearls category, which means I was able to pick the Interweave bead magazine of my choice for a year's subscription. Lucky! And it gets even better, both of these designs are in the Bead Star magazine which hits newsstands next week.
While you wait for the magazine to arrive, you can find my sea urchins in my etsy shop or on my website. Ah, I feel all shiny!

Humblebeads On the Horizon

I'm looking forward to the last weekend before school starts. Moms, you know the joy we look forward to on Monday. Guilt-free working at home while the wee ones are off getting an education.

Other things I'm looking forward to:

1. My dragonfly necklace will be in BeadStyle's Easy Beading Vol. 4. I have projects in Vol.1 &

2. The same necklace will also be on an upcoming episode of Beads, Baubles and Jewels. Yipee!

2. Looking forward to working on some new pendants that feature felted leaves. Pictures to follow soon.

3. Can't wait to start stocking my new fall line and soon holiday items! Pictured above are a few of my favorite items from my etsy shop.

4. Dinner with good friends tomorrow. I'm going to make that zucchini bread that I've been anxious to try - with real butter, yum!

5. To finally get caught up from my vacation, who know it would take me so long to get back into the swing of things.

6. A high temperate of 75, okay I'll be waiting for a while for that one. I'm looking forward for fall!

I was interviewed for the Bead Circle blog, check it out to read a few new facts about humblebeads.

Humblebeads National and Local News

Boy those humblebeads get around.
First, I'd like you all to celebrate with me. One of my beads has made it's cover debut. Yes, you can see a humblebead on the cover of Beads 2007. Two of them in fact. I'm on the inside too...an editor's pick. It's a banner day in the studio. Now to get the entire cover to myself. mawhahaha. (that's evil laughter, in case you were wondering.)

Second, kind of national - another shout out at Polymer Clay Daily. Oh that makes my day! Lots of visitors today, so welcome, welcome, take your coat off, make yourself at home. If you haven't seen my beadmaking tips for polymer clay, here they are.

And the local news, I'm going to have a booth at the San Antonio Bead & Ornament Society's Annual Spring Show, May 5th & 6th. So if you are in the Southwest Texas area, this is your personal invite to come say a beady 'howdy' to me.
And that's the news for tonight folks. Happy Creating!
